Ramírez heads to the open market in search of a new opportunity after posting a strong 2.45 ERA across 11 innings (nine appearances) this season for Minnesota. The soft-tossing 35-year-old journeyman has had a remarkable career pitching for seven different organizations and making 336 appearances (96 starts) over a 14-year span dating back to 2012.

Twins fired manager Rocco Baldelli.

Baldelli is out as Minnesota’s skipper following a calamitous 70-92 campaign that included an ugly 23-43 second-half record following a trade deadline fire sale. The 44-year-old skipper, who had his club option for next season picked up back in mid-June, went 527-505 (.511) during his seven seasons at the helm dating back to 2019. He guided the Twins to the postseason three times and took home three NL Central division titles during his tenure.

Simeon Woods Richardson shut out the Phillies for six innings and struck out nine in a no-decision Sunday.

Woods Richardson had never fanned more than eight in a game until striking out 11 Yankees two weeks ago. Now he’s done it again with another six-inning masterpiece. The outings are just the second and third times this year he’s gotten a chance to complete six innings. He ends the year 7-5 with a 4.04 ERA that’s a big improvement over the 4.58 mark prior to the Yankees game. That should make a difference going into what could be a stiff rotation competition next spring.

Byron Buxton is out of the lineup for Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Phillies.

One of the bigger surprises in the fantasy landscape this season, Buxton managed to stay healthy for a whopping 126 games, his highest single-season total since the 2017 campaign. The 31-year-old center fielder finishes the year with a solid .264/.327/.551 slash line with 97 runs scored, a career-high 35 home runs, 83 RBI and 24 stolen bases in 542 plate appearances.

Misiewicz makes it back to Minnesota for Sunday’s season finale after missing more than two months with a shoulder impingement. The 30-year-old lefty has made four relief appearances this season in the big leagues.

Byron Buxton went 2-for-5 and swatted his 35th home run of the season on Saturday, helping to power the Twins to a 5-0 victory over the Phillies in Philadelphia.

Buxton opened the scoring with a 386-foot (99.1 mph EV) solo shot off of Ranger Suarez in the top half of the first inning. It’s unfortunate that it happened in a season in which the Twins were never really competitive, but Buxton managed to stay mostly healthy and has had a career year in his age-31 season. With his two-hit attack he’s slashing .264/.327/.551 with career-highs of 35 homers and 83 RBI while also swiping 24 bases in 24 attempts.

Ryan Fitzgerald went 1-for-3 and swatted a solo home run as the Twins shut out the Phillies on Saturday evening.

The 31-year-old infielder pulverized a 2-0 fastball from Max Lazar for a 413-foot (105.8 mph EV) solo shot in the seventh inning that extended the Twins’ lead to 4-0. That would be his only hit in three at-bats on the night, though he also drew a walk. Despite the poor batting average, Fitzgerald has actually done a nice job during his time with the Twins, slashing .209/.306/.488 with four homers, nine RBI and a 7/6 K/BB ratio in 49 plate appearances.

James Outman went 1-for-4 and clubbed a solo home run on Saturday night as the Twins triumphed over the Phillies.

Outman victimized Phillies’ southpaw Ranger Suarez for his 436-foot blast in the fifth inning — extending the Twins’ early lead to 5-0. It has been a very rough season overall for Outman, as he’s slashing a meager .138/.222/.331 with six long balls and 11 RBI in 144 plate appearances.

Mick Abel earned a victory against his former club on Saturday, racking up nine strikeouts over six scoreless innings against the Phillies.

Abel scattered just three hits on the night — all of them singles — while issuing one base on balls. He generated 14 swings and misses on 73 pitches on the night — six of them on his fastball — while posting an elite CSW of 37 percent. The 24-year-old hurler finishes his 2025 season on a high note, though for the season he posted a miserable 6.23 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and a 39/16 K/BB ratio across 39 innings of work in 10 appearances (eight starts) between the Phillies and Twins. This outing could give him a leg up on a spot in the Twins’ Opening Day rotation in 2026.
