This hiring makes sense for all involved. McCoy, 53, concluded his 2013-2016 run as the Chargers’ head coach with a 27-37 record. He then served as the Broncos’ (2017) and Cardinals’ (2018) offensive coordinators in one-off campaigns before spending three seasons as the Jaguars’ quarterbacks coach. The Titans hired him as a senior offensive assistant last year and promoted him to interim head coach in-season. The Raiders’ first-time head coach, Klint Kubiak, will call plays offensively while learning how to handle his other, newfound responsibilities. McCoy can help teach Kubiak team management basics, among other things.
  • FA Quarterback
Mendoza is all but certain to land with the Raiders, who have the first overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. After displaying “elite accuracy and overall arm talent to throw to all levels of the field” during his final season at Indiana — leading the Hoosiers to the team’s first national title — Mendoza should be a good fir for Kubiak, fresh off turning Sam Darnold into a Super Bowl winning quarterback. “Mendoza brings a strong frame and in-pocket mobility with enough creativity to handle duress out of structure,” Yates said. “And his quick-processing skills point to a successful starting NFL QB.” Even if Mendoza struggles as a rookie, he will be a major upgrade for Brock Bowers and the rest of the Vegas pass catchers.
  • NYG Head Coach
It’s quite the downgrade for Callahan after failing in his lone season at the helm in Tennessee. Callahan will now work with second-year QB Jaxson Dart to develop his game following a promising rookie season in which he threw for 15 touchdowns and five interceptions over 14 games, while rushing for another nine scores. Hopefully Callahan’s total inability to develop Cam Ward in Tennessee isn’t a harbinger of things to come for Dart and the Giants.
  • LV Defensive End #98
This is mostly cold water on the idea of a Crosby trade from the team’s new head coach, but we’ll see what happens going forward here. There have been too many reports of Crosby wanting out — including one of him telling Tom Brady he’d never play for the Raiders again — to fully invest in the idea that a trade won’t happen. Still, it’s broadly good news that Crosby was at the introductory presser and had coffee with Kubiak.
  • PIT Quarterback #8
Well here’s a whole news cycle for the next five months, anyway. Again, it’s hard to argue that there’s a better fate for the Steelers out there between the lack of non-No. 1 overall quarterbacks in this year’s draft and how diminished free agency looks this year. But if you were hoping for a quick retirement after Mike Tomlin gracefully resigned his position, we can welcome you back to the 2025 Offseason Part II. We’ll have more of the same for the next several blurbs on Rodgers.
  • NE Offensive Lineman #66
Vrabel on Tuesday offered a vociferous defense of the rookie following his postseason struggles while playing through a major knee injury. “Will is 22 years old. He’s our left tackle. He’ll get better. He’ll get stronger,” Vrabel said. “There’s plays he’d like to have back. We’re not moving Will to guard, center, tight end or anywhere else.” Pro Football Focus graded Campbell 110th out of 200 qualifying offensive linemen in pass blocking this season. He was graded 81st in run blocking. Campbell allowed nine sacks in 2025, the third most among all NFL offensive linemen. Assuming he’ll undergo offseason knee surgery, Campbell should be good to go for the 2026 season.
  • CLE Quarterback #4
The settlements come just weeks before the cases were slated to reach court. They were among the 27 civil suits filed against Watson since 2021 by women accusing him of sexual misconduct during massage appointments. Watson was fined $5 million and suspended for 11 games in 2022. His career has since tanked. Watson has suffered multiple Achilles tendon ruptures and his on-field performance has been as poor as any starting QB in the NFL over the past few years. Entering his age-31 season, Watson will compete for Cleveland’s starting job this summer.
  • NE Quarterback #10
Maye, following his Super Bowl meltdown against the Seahawks, said the right shoulder issue hampered his ability to throw the football against Seattle’s elite secondary. He had been on the Patriots’ injury report for two weeks ahead of the Super Bowl. Maye picked up the shoulder ailment in the Pats’ AFC title game win over the Broncos. He said he did not expect to require surgery on the shoulder. Maye will likely enter 2026 fully healthy.
  • CLE Tight End #85
The veteran tight end took to instagram to announce that he would not be returning to Cleveland this offseason as he departs for free agency. It will mark the first year of his career not a member of the team that drafted him in 2017, ending a nine-year run with the franchise. The soon-to-be 30-year-old lost playing time in 2025 to electric rookie Harold Fannin Jr and apparently saw the writing on the wall regarding the direction of the franchise moving forward. The announcement directly contradicts previous reports that Njoku was looking to return to the Browns.
  • SF Defensive Lineman #56
He’s expected to be okay. The team reported late Monday evening that White was in surgery after sustaining a bullet wound to his ankle earlier in the day. No amplifying information regarding the incident was provided initially, although more is sure to come out in the coming days. At least for now, it appears as if the grotesque injury to the veteran defensive lineman is not career, or life, threatening.
