"(We) will know more in the future” were Barkley’s words after he finished the day with four carries for nine yards and an 11-yard reception. That’s because Barkley did indeed “finish the day,” but he spent over two quarters on the sideline before barely touching the ball in the second half. The fact he returned at all suggests it’s not an overly serious issue, but it could end up being diagnosed as a neck ailment, which is always a delicate situation. Tank Bigsby is shaping up as a priority waivers add in the 60-70 percent of leagues where he is not currently rostered. We will hopefully update Barkley’s status on Monday.

His first touchdown was a breathtaking back-shoulder ball that required picture-perfect foot dragging to bring in for a score — it was such a good catch that CBS play-by-play man Kevin Harlan didn’t actually believe it was a touchdown at first. He added a second touchdown out of structure when Joe Burrow drifted to the right of the pocket and lured Reed Blankenship up to create a hole for Chase. Fantasy’s WR1 is back at it again and should (obviously) be started and trusted against the Steelers in Week 3.

Rodgers led an anemic offense in a defense-heavy matchup with the Patriots for Week 2. The Steelers began the day with a couple of three-and-outs, barely able to string together chunk plays the whole game. Rodgers fumbled in the second quarter on a play that pushed the Steelers back 37 yards due to a game of pinball in an effort to scoop up the ball; the play kicked the Steelers out of field goal territory. He later fumbled for a Pats scoop-and-score in the fourth quarter. Rodgers’ second turnover was an interception coming off a Germie Bernard bobble in the fourth quarter. A 4.8 yards per attempt mark indicates an offense that cannot push the ball downfield. Fantasy managers will not see chunk gains from Rodgers, who should be a fantasy QB3 for Week 3 against the Bengals.

It was a defensive slugfest for the Patriots and Steelers in Week 2, with neither team passing for a touchdown on the day. Maye added 17 rushing yards on four carries but took three sacks, including one in the red zone in the second quarter. His interception was a floater in Steelers territory in the third quarter, tossed right to Patrick Queen to end a drive. He ends the day with 44-percent of his passing yards coming on two third-quarter chunk plays to Romeo Doubs. Maye has had a rough start to the season, following up a three-interception Week 1 with a scoreless, one-interception Week 2. He faces another solid defense in the Jaguars for Week 3; Maye’s rushing upside keeps him in the low-end QB1 territory for next week.

This wouldn’t normally be good news, but seeing as Williams was carted with a towel over his head, it would be the best possible news if this diagnosis holds. Although word is from the Bears themselves, diagnoses sometimes change in these cases. That would nevertheless seem unlikely in this particularly instance, as the hamstring is a much different kind of ailment than achilles’ tendon or knee. It would seem Williams has avoided a season-ending issue. He could still end up on injured reserve for a month if it’s a severe strain. Stay tuned. For now, Tyson Bagent should be considered extremely likely to start Week 3 against the Eagles.

Both Meyers and Brian Thomas, Jr. (shoulder) are good to go after missing some practice time this week. Meyers should be a WR3 option against a tough Denver secondary while Thomas will continue operating as the Jags’ primary downfield option. Jaguars declared QB Quinn Ewers, WR CJ Williams, S Jalen Huskey, LB Jack Kiser, G Daniel Faalele, TE Tanner Koziol, and DE Wesley Williams inactive against Denver.

Harvey will miss Week 2 with a hamstring injury, leaving JK Dobbins as the team’s lead back and Jonah Coleman as the likely RB2 option. Dobbins should get a boost — perhaps in the pass catching game — with Harvey sidelined, while Coleman probably won’t see more than a handful of touches.

McConkey was trending toward playing as of this morning and made it through pregame workouts without any issues. He will wear a protective jacket for this game and will likely play fewer than his normal number of snaps. Fantasy managers can move him down the WR2 ranks because of the injury, but it’s hard to pull him out of lineups entirely. Inactive for the Chargers are S Elijah Molden, CB Deane Leonard, CB Isas Waxter, OL Logan Taylor, OL Alex Harkey, and OL Trey Pipkins III.

Barkley seemed like he was dying to get back into the game in the second quarter, but he couldn’t get comfortable. That evidently changed at halftime. We will undoubtedly see more Tank Bigsby than usual in quarters three and four, but Barkley’s return is the best possible news after he was roughed up on the Eagles’ opening drive.

Goedert got roughed up run blocking early in the second quarter. He was then absent for the following drive, earning the questionable tag. It’s not a good development for someone with Goedert’s injury history, though to the naked eye, it did not have the looks of a season-ending injury. Goedert had a four-yard catch on two targets before departing. Johnny Mundt is the next man up at tight end. Second-round rookie Eli Stowers (quad, hamstring) is currently on injured reserve.
