Jobe will draw into Detroitโ€™s new-look rotation following the departures of Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize at the trade deadline when they kick off a three-game series in San Francisco later this week. The hard-throwing 24-year-old was one of the top pitching prospects in baseball in the not-so-distant past and will be making his return to the majors after missing most of the last two seasons recovering from Tommy John surgery. Heโ€™s struck out 17 batters over 15 1/3 innings during five minor league rehab outings. There are probably going to be some workload restrictions down the home stretch, but Jobe is the type of talent that fantasy managers should at the very least be monitoring closely.
  • NYY Shortstop #96
Lombard is at shortstop and hitting eighth against the Cardinals at Yankee Stadium in his major-league debut on Tuesday night. The 21-year-old top prospect is an outstanding defender, which is the primary reason that the Yankees decided to bring him up for their late-season playoff push. He offers some over-the-fence pop, but is still developing as a hitter at this relatively early stage of his career. He was batting .268/.405/.440 with six homers and 10 steals in 262 plate appearances at the Triple-A level this season. It may be unrealistic to expect Lombard to make an immediate fantasy impact, but the talent is there for him to do just that. Heโ€™s a name to watch over the final two months.
  • COL Left Fielder #22
The deal is now official. Moniak and the Rockies have agreed to buy out his final arbitration-eligible season, along with one additional year of free agency, keeping him in Colorado through 2028. The 28-year-old former first-overall pick has delivered top-40fantasy production among outfielders this season, hitting .277/.318/.565 with 18 homers, 49 RBI and one steal in 283 plate appearances across 75 games.
  • WSH Right Fielder #29
Wood has been diagnosed with a mild oblique strain, which means his absence will likely be on the shorter end of the spectrum. However, heโ€™s likely to remain on the shelf until at least mid-to-late August. The 23-year-old rising star suffered the injury on an awkward swing during the sixth inning of Mondayโ€™s game against the Phillies. Itโ€™s a colossal loss for the Nationals, and fantasy managers, as Wood has delivered top-five overall fantasy value this season, slashing .265/.393/.535 with 100 runs scored, 30 homers, 73 RBI and 17 stolen bases across 535 plate appearances in 114 games. There should be a definitive return timetable once Wood is cleared to resume baseball activities.
  • ATH 1st Baseman #16
The Aโ€™s let Kurtz rush back from his original thumb injury last month and will pay the price, though not really, since theyโ€™re not playing for much anyway. Itโ€™s unclear as of yet whether Kurtz will return this season. The Aโ€™s will likely go with Tommy White at first base, opening up time at third base for Max Muncy and Donovan Walton.
  • KC Shortstop #7
Witt is returning from back tightness without a rehab assignment after 13 days on the injured list. Heโ€™ll probably get more days off than usual in the near future, but fantasy teams will surely want him back in their lineups right away.
  • NYY Shortstop #96
Lombard will make his major-league debut against the Cardinals on Tuesday at Yankee Stadium. The 21-year-old remains a work in progress from an offensive standpoint at this stage of his development, but heโ€™s shown some real over-the-fence pop at the Triple-A level this season. Heโ€™s a phenomenal defender and projects as New Yorkโ€™s long-term answer at shortstop, which means they can finally end the bizarre Josรฉ Caballero and Anthony Volpe timeshare once and for all. He may not provide an instant fantasy impact outside of deeper leagues, but Lombard in a prospect worth monitoring closely, even in shallow mixers.
  • COL Left Fielder #22
Moniak missed time at the start of the year with a finger injury, but has still delivered top-50 range fantasy value among outfielder this season, hitting .273/.317/.547 with 17 homers, 47 RBI and one steal in 278 plate appearances across 74 games. The 28-year-old has emerged as a middle-of-the-order run-producer for Colorado and makes a ton of sense as a stabilizing presence as they continue searching for their next foundational pieces. The new agreement will buy out his final arbitration-eligible season in addition to one year of free agency.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #12
Mize bolsters a San Diego rotation that has been one of the worst in baseball this season with Detroit continuing their full-scale teardown. The 29-year-old former first-overall pick has put together one of his best seasons, despite battling through lingering groin issues that have impacted his availability and performance, posting a strong 2.70 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 85/19 K/BB ratio across 86 2/3 innings of work.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #35
Holmes shores up Chicagoโ€™s starting rotation depth issues, joining veteran Kevin Gausman as the clubโ€™s big-time trade deadline moves. The 33-year-old impending free agent is on the cusp of returning to the majors after fracturing his fibula back in mid-May. Heโ€™s looked sharp in a pair of recent minor league rehab starts and should be ready to make his Chicago debut later this week.
