Holmes shores up Chicagoโ€™s starting rotation depth issues, joining veteran Kevin Gausman as the clubโ€™s big-time trade deadline moves. The 33-year-old impending free agent is on the cusp of returning to the majors after fracturing his fibula back in mid-May. Heโ€™s looked sharp in a pair of recent minor league rehab starts and should be ready to make his Chicago debut later this week.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #23
Kellerโ€™s season is officially over and heโ€™s facing a lengthy recovery process after being diagnosed with a serious shoulder ailment. Itโ€™s a bit unclear how much time heโ€™s going to miss, but itโ€™ll definitely be a multi-month absence given the nature of the injury. The 30-year-old starter finishes with an underwhelming 5.29 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 89/42 K/BB ratio across 115 2/3 innings over 22 starts.
  • NYY Left Fielder #17
Ramos makes a ton of sense for the Yankees as a temporary stopgap while both Aaron Judge (rib) and Cody Bellinger (hamstring) are on the injured list, but he could wind up getting squeezed into a platoon role once theyโ€™re back. The 26-year-old corner outfielder has just nine round-trippers in 74 games this season after reaching the 20-homer plateau in each of the previous two years. He should benefit from leaving Oracle Parkโ€™s pitcher-friendly dimensions behind in favor of Yankee Stadium.
  • BOS Catcher #35
The blockbuster trade deadline deal is now official. Boston gave up a massive haul, including three of their top five prospects, according to Baseball America. Rutschman is currently on the injured list with left wrist inflammation and wonโ€™t be ready to contribute for a couple weeks. Thereโ€™s a chance heโ€™s ready to start a minor league rehab assignment later this week. The 28-year-old former top-overall pick from the 2019 draft topped 19 homers in consecutive seasons from 2023-2024 before missing time with injury each of the last two years. He fills a glaring need behind the plate for the Red Sox, especially since he wonโ€™t reach free agency until 2028. However, thereโ€™s a decent chance that surrendering a high-level pitching prospect like Eyanson to a division-rival ultimately comes back to haunt them.
  • TB Catcher #34
The 27-year-old Hicks, who wonโ€™t be a free agent until after 2030, is probably overachieving some at .282/.363/.432 as a sophomore this year, but heโ€™ll still provide a nice lift over the Raysโ€™ catching duo of Hunter Feduccia and Nick Fortes. Since Hicks and Feduccia are lefty hitters and Fortes is a righty, itโ€™s Feduccia who would seem to be in line for a demotion. No official word yet on whether the Marlins will promote Agustรญn Ramรญrez. They already had Brian Navarette up as a third catcher with Hicks often DHing, so they could pick someone else if they donโ€™t see Ramรญrez getting enough playing time as a DH and backup to Joe Mack.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher #30
The deal is now official. Itโ€™s a phenomenal landing spot for Weaverโ€™s immediate fantasy value as he figures to take over as Pittsburghโ€™s primary stopper with Gregory Soto and Mason Montgomery lurking as potential vultures. The 32-year-old former closer was outstanding in his Mets debut this season with a sparkling 1.84 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 45/11 K/BB ratio across 44 innings of work. According to MLB.comโ€™s Anthony DiComo, the Mets are eating roughly $15.5 million left on Weaverโ€™s contract through next season, presumably in order to get Stafura in the deal.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #38
According to The Athleticโ€™s Dennis Lin, the Giants are paying about half of the $9 milllion or so Ray is owed, including a portion of his $1 million trade bonus. Ray will join Michael King and Walker Buehler in a Padres rotation that could get Nick Pivetta and/or Joe Musgrove back at the end of the month. Another bat would be nice, but the chances of a late run are looking up. Ray, 34, had a 3.08 ERA in 122 2/3 innings for the Giants. Heโ€™s at 1.09 while focusing on his sinker in his last seven starts.
  • PHI 2nd Baseman #1
The Phillies will be mixing things all up to accommodate Arraez, with Bryson Stott moving to third, Alec Bohm going to first and Bryce Harper returning to the outfield for the first time since elbow surgery. Itโ€™s probably worth it to add Arraez to the lineup, though it would have been cheaper in prospect cost just to add an outfielder and keep the infield as it was. Arraez, a free agent at seasonโ€™s end, should get a little value boost in Philly, though the ballpark upgrade probably doesnโ€™t make much of a difference here like it would with a more traditional power hitter. The Giants will give Nate Furman and Osleivis Barabe looks at second base for now.
  • BAL Left Fielder #3
The Orioles will receive Alex Hoppe, Brock Moore and Harrison Kreiling in return, according to the Baltimore Sunโ€™s Matt Weyrich. Wardโ€™s offensive profile has radically changed this year, but heโ€™s remained quite valuable in the process. The Mariners will likely play him in right and bat him somewhere near the top of the order. The ballpark change could bring down his fantasy value a bit.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #59
Soriano will bring a 3.29 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 25 percent strikeout rate to the Blue Jays rotation for the next two-plus seasons. While we wouldnโ€™t expect major changes for him in 2026, this is a nice landing spot for him going forward because the Blue Jays have become a solid pitching development organization that should get the most out of his plus secondaries but inconsistent fastballs. Soriano was originally scheduled to start on Tuesday for the Angels, but we would imagine the Blue Jays would want to give him a little more time with his new team before putting him out on the mound.
