The Dolphins offense finally got going against the Patriots, starting their scoring in the second quarter. Tagovailoa threw a first-drive interception that was called back for penalty before connecting with Jaylen Waddle for an 18-yard touchdown on the team’s second drive and leading a two-minute drill for a score at the end of the first half. He underthrew Tyreek Hill on a 47-yard completion in the second half, with Hill working his way back to the ball and the Patriots defender overrunning the throw to allow for a completion. Tagovailoa’s day ended in a rough manner, throwing a 4th down interception and getting sacked on 4th down to end the Dolphins’ final two drives. The Dolphins offense was clicking again, but Tagovailoa did not do enough to achieve the win. He will be low-end fantasy QB2 against the Bills in Week 3.
  • DET Wide Receiver #14
Smarting from a scoreless 4/45 in Week 1, St. Brown rebounded for the first three-touchdown game of his career. The scores came from four, eight, and four yards out, with ARSB simply dominating his DB competition at the goal line and in the end zone. It’s one of the reasons he can command the money he did as a primary slot man. With the Lions scoring 52 points, ARSB’s big day came even as Jameson Williams got home as a deep threat. JaMo’s continued emergence means ARSB could be a little more boom or bust than usual this season, but he remains a locked in, mid-range WR1. The Ravens await for Week 3.
  • NE Quarterback #10
Maye and the Patriots offense got off to a quick start against the Dolphins, with the 23-year-old completing 4-of-5 pass attempts on the opening scoring drive. The Patriots dealt with frequent pre-snap penalties that slowed the offense down, but Maye was effective at spreading the ball around and scrambling to find plays against a weak Dolphins defense. He found Mack Hollins and Kayshon Boutte for a pair of scores in the first quarter and ran in a six-yard scramble for a third-quarter touchdown. With no turnovers, Maye turned in an impactful fantasy performance against one of the league’s worst defense. He will be a fantasy QB2 against a tougher Steelers defense.
  • DET Quarterback #16
One week after getting humbled in Green Bay, Goff and the Lions bounced all the way back to return the favor against former Detroit OC Ben Johnson. It frequently looked like the Bears’ defense wasn’t even on the field, with Goff and his stable of elite skill players doing essentially whatever they wanted. For Goff, that meant a pair of deep strikes to Jameson Williams and endlessly targeting Amon-Ra St. Brown for 9/115/3. We weren’t concerned about Detroit after only one game, but it’s a relief they answered any “questions” so convincingly this week. Now Detroit heads on the road for another big test in a Week 3 date with the Ravens. Goff will be on the QB1/2 borderline for that one.
  • PIT Running Back #30
This constituted a total takeover of the Steelers backfield, as Kenneth Gainwell — who last week logged ten touches — was limited to five carries and three receptions against Seattle. Warren led the backfield in routes was was targeted on 27 percent of his routes. Warren’s highlight of the day came on a 65-yard catch and run in which Warren threw would-be tacklers to the ground and nearly scored from 70 yards out. This is the sort of workload we imagined when head coach Mike Tomlin called Warren “our featured runner” back in August. Warren will be an RB2 play next week against the Patriots.
  • PIT Wide Receiver #4
The Steelers were nice enough to give Metcalf a jump ball touchdown chance against his former mates, which he converted into one of the team’s two touchdowns on the day. Metcalf led the team in targets, though there wasn’t much in the way of passing production with Aaron Rodgers looking his age from start to finish. Metcalf was once again used primarily as a short-area pass catcher — a curious role considering his downfield ability. Metcalf now has 103 yards on seven grabs over two games and profiles as a top-30 fantasy play in Week 3 against the Patriots, one of the worst coverage units in the NFL through two weeks.
  • SEA Quarterback #14
Darnold managed the game well and made a handful of critical throws on third downs and red zone opportunities. As he did in Week 1, Darnold targeted Jaxon Smith-Njigba heavily (10 targets) while connecting with slot man Cooper Kupp nine times for 90 yards. Darnold handled pressure well but threw to picks with defenders in his face, throwing into tight windows to wideouts who rarely got open against a Steelers secondary without Joey Porter Jr. (hamstring). Darnold will be a legit streaming option in Week 3 against a soft Saints defense that gave up a nice stat line to Mac Jones in Week 2.
  • SEA Running Back #9
Walker saw 13 carries while Zach Charbonnet handled 15 rushing attempts for the run-heavy Seattle offense. Walker made the most of his chances, averaging 8.1 yards per carry and scoring a short touchdown in the fourth quarter to put the game away against a sleepy Pittsburgh defense. Walker ran tough throughout, bouncing off would-be tacklers and carrying defenders on a few first half carries. Walker logged six pass routes on the day to 14 for Charbonnet. Walker, who was held to 20 yards in Week 1, should be considered a top-20 fantasy option next week against a lowly Saints defense.
  • CIN Quarterback #9
Burrow went down with a toe injury in the first half and was eventually listed as questionable to return. His fate was sealed when Jake Browning took the first snap of the second half, even if it took the Bengals a while longer to rule him out. Burrow was spotted riding a scooter to keep weight off his foot after going into the locker room for an MRI. Jake Browning will close out Week 2 under center and could be the Bengals’ starter beyond today’s game.
  • IND Defensive End #97
Latu is sidelined by a hamstring injury and Ward failed to clear the NFL’s concussion protocol. Both absences should make life easier on the Broncos’ passing offense. Goodson is rehabbing an elbow injury that kept him sidelined in Week 1. He practiced in a limited capacity on Wednesday and Thursday before practicing in full on Friday, which seemingly put him on track to play. His inactive status suggests rookie RB DJ Giddens has already sewn up the No. 2 running back role behind Jonathan Taylor.
