Gausman departs Toronto with just a couple of months to go on the five-year, $110 million contract he signed as a free agent prior to the 2022 season. Heโ€™s posted a 4.38 ERA this season, but his strikeout rate has held steady at 23.5 percent and he has a 3.85 xERA and a 3.95 SIERA. Heโ€™s also about as reliable as pitchers come, which is pretty important given the state of the Cubs rotation. Colin Rea could get bumped to the pen to make room for him. The Jays will likely replace him with Jameson Taillon, who they acquired from the Cubs in a separate deal earlier in the day.
  • NYY 1st Baseman #2
Garcรญa has been excellent in 2026 with an .873 OPS and 23 homers over his 374 plate appearances. Heโ€™ll be in the lineup everyday against right-handers, and the short porch in Yankees Stadium should play well for the 26-year-old. Just keep in mind that he likely wonโ€™t play much against southpaws, with Paul Goldschmidt getting those starts against lefties.
  • TB Starting Pitcher #51
This is certainly one of the best-case scenarios for those rostering Peralta, as heโ€™ll get to try to turn things around in a very good situation for pitchers in Tampa Bay. A 17-game winner in Milwaukee last year, Peralta is just 5-9 with a 4.99 ERA in 22 starts this year. His elevated .313 BABIP seems rather fluky, given that heโ€™s remained pretty good at limiting hard contract. However, it is a significant concern that his strikeout rate has dropped from 28 percent to 22 percent. The Rays will plug him into Shane McClanahanโ€™s rotation spot for now and probably start him at some point against the Rockies in the series starting Monday. Eventually, Ian Seymour could be bumped back to the pen once McClanahan comes off the IL.
  • DET Center Fielder #95
In just his second game, Clark has his first MLB homer; a two-run shot off Jack Perkins. He also singled, and the 21-year-old has gone 5-for-9 in his first two games while also drawing a walk and knocking in three runs. Itโ€™s a very small sample, but itโ€™s pretty obvious that Clark has the talent to be a major factor at the highest level. Thereโ€™s a good chance this is a five-category contributor someday, and it wouldnโ€™t be surprising if he was more helpful than not in his eligible fantasy formats for the remainder of the campaign.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #58
Castillo is having the worst season of his professional career with a 5.06 ERA and 3-9 record over 20 appearances โ€” 17 starts โ€” and 99 1/3 innings. The 33-year-old right-hander has been much more effective in the past, however, and has pitched better after a dreadful start to his 2026 campaign. Still, this is not the Castillo of old, and heโ€™s much closer to a streamer than someone fantasy managers need to have in their lineup. Itโ€™s fair to take a wait-and-see approach before believing in a rebound.
  • PIT Right Fielder #29
Oโ€™Hearn is expected to miss 6-8 weeks, according to the team. The 33-year-old suffered the injury during Fridayโ€™s loss to the Reds while running to first base in the ninth inning. Itโ€™s a massive hit for the Pirates as theyโ€™ll be without one of their key middle-of-the-order run producers until at least mid-September. The encouraging news here is that thereโ€™s a chance Oโ€™Hearn is back for the home stretch, and a potential postseason run.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #68
Passan adds that the sense is that Kirby is available and could be moved prior to Mondayโ€™s deadline. He also notes that Seattle has been listening to offer for Emerson Hancock and Luis Castillo. The Mariners have top prospect Kade Anderson knocking on the door of the majors and figure to move at least one, if not more, of their current rotation members. Kirby would net the largest return in any potential trade package, despite holding a pedestrian 3.98 ERA across 120 innings this season.
  • COL Catcher #15
Feinsandโ€™s update coincides with a report from The Athleticโ€™s Ken Rosental earlier this week that the Rockies have been asking for a top prospect as part of any multi-player package. The 26-year-old slugging backstop is the rare hitter that is statistically better away from Coors Fieldโ€™s high-octane offensive environment and should command a massive prospect haul, especially since he wonโ€™t reach free agency for three more years. Goodman would be one of the biggest names moved at the trade deadline and it seems like Coloradoโ€™s new-look front office, which features Paul DePodesta at the helm, will have to be blown away to consider jettisoning their lineup anchor.
  • MIL Catcher #23
Naylorโ€™s arrival seems to signal that Milwaukee is open to moving current backup catcher Gary Sรกnchez. The 26-year-old former top prospect never lived up to his potential in Cleveland, but he represents an interesting reclamation project for the Brewers behind starter William Contreras. Heโ€™s flashed some occasional over-the-fence pop, but needs to start making more frequent hard contact if heโ€™s going to be a fantasy-relevant option in the future. Itโ€™s the type of challenge trade between two forward-thinking front offices that has a range of potential outcomes wider than the Grand Canyon.
  • MIL Shortstop #91
Made capped the epic five-hit performance with an eighth-inning grand slam to join Athletics top prospect Leo De Vries as the only teenage to record five hits and two homers in a game since 2005, per MLB Pipeline. The 19-year-old prodigy has been on an absolute rocket ship towards Milwaukee since a sublime Dominican Summer League campaign back in 2024. Heโ€™s universally regarded as the top prospect in baseball and is thriving as one of the youngest hitters in Double-A, slashing .287/.359/.464 with 12 round-trippers and 29 stolen bases through 89 games. Itโ€™s impossible to dismiss the slim possibility given how meteoric his rise has been to this point that the Brewers decide to give him a taste of the majors and postseason action before the end of the year. It happened with Junior Caminero a couple years ago.
