  • PIT Shortstop #85
Personalize your Rotoworld feed by favoriting players
Griffin hit just .184 in his Grapefruit League action, but he was able to hit four homers and had some exceptional exit velocities during his time in big-league camp. There’s reports that the two sides are working on a long-term extension, but he’ll almost assuredly begin the season in the minors. Griffin is one of the few prospects in baseball who is worth rostering in redraft leagues even if he is opening the season in Triple- or Double-A.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #30
Skenes scattered one hit and three walks, requiring 65 pitches (36 strikes) to navigate four shutout frames in his final spring tune-up. The 23-year-old reigning NL Cy Young Award winner kicks off the season on Thursday with a challenging road tilt against the Mets at Citi Field. He’s one of the top three pitchers off the board in the first or second round of every fantasy draft this spring.
  • PHI Center Fielder #91
Crawford will be officially added to Philadelphia’s active roster in advance of next week’s season-opener. The 22-year-old top prospect will open the season as the Phillies’ starting center fielder after batting .334/.411/.452 with seven homers and 46 steals in 112 games at the Triple-A level last year. His stolen base potential gives him immediate relevance in deeper fantasy formats, although he’s likely to bat near the bottom of the order at the outset of the season, which limits his realistic across-the-board ceiling. He’s a talent worth rostering in deeper leagues.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #76
That had been a foregone conclusion for a while now, but is now official. The bigger question will be whether he or Taijuan Walker gets bumped once Zack Wheeler (shoulder) is ready to return. Cristopher Sanchez will work on Opening Day for the Phillies and will be followed by Aaron Nola. Jesus Luzardo, Walker and Painter in that order.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #17
We made the mistake of assuming he was done after four, but he had one batter left in him. Ohtani had an easy time today, especially during a five-pitch first inning. He hit 99.9 mph on the gun and averaged 97.6 mph with his 19 fastballs. In all, he threw 61 pitches. One imagines he’ll throw around 65-70 in his final spring start, which will likely come Tuesday against the Angels, and then be ready for throw 75-80 pitches in his first regular-season start, which should come against the Guardians on Mar. 30 or 31.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #11
Sasaki’s latest shaky outing Tuesday lowered his spring ERA to 13.50, but the Dodgers aren’t wavering just yet. Sasaki has shown some extra velocity, and he’s managed to strike out 26% of the batters he faced while also unfortunately walking 24%. The control doesn’t figure to remain that bad, but there’s not going to be any reason to trust him in mixed leagues early on.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #45
Cole topped out at 98.7 mph and averaged 97.1 mph with his four fastballs, which is 1.2 mph better than when he was last seen in 2024. His average fastball velocity peaked at 97.8 mph in 2022. His two curves and two sliders were up about 1.5 mph from 2024. So, it doesn’t look like arm strength is going to be an issue here. The Yankees have maintained that they see Cole returning in late May or June, but it’s not going to be easy holding him back for that long. He’s being underdrafted in fantasy leagues right now.
  • CIN 3rd Baseman #28
Luis Arraez drew a rare walk on what looked to be strike two to open the ninth against Garrett Whitlock and then pinch-runner Javier Sanoja stole second on a close play. Suárez followed with a clean double into the gap in right-center for the go-ahead run, and Daniel Palencia mowed down Kyle Schwarber, pinch-hitter Gunnar Henderson and Roman Anthony in the bottom of the ninth. Team USA was shut out for seven innings until Bryce Harper hit a game-tying two-run homer in the eighth. Venezuela’s previous runs came in a Maikel Garcia sac fly and a Wilyer Abreu homer. It’s Venezuela’s first WBC title, and the U.S. is the runnerup for the second straight tournament after losing to Japan by the same score in the final last time out.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #26
Rhett Lowder and Brandon Williamson have also made Cincinnati’s rotation. There was speculation that Burns would open the season in the minors after experiencing some physical issues last week but Francona has put those concerns to bed. The 23-year-old top prospect is likely to have some workload limitations at the outset of the year as the Reds exercise caution with his ramp-up process, but he’ll remain in the big-league rotation. The plan is for the Reds to use a combination of Burns, Williamson and Lowder to fill two rotation spots. It’s an encouraging development for Burns, who has been going off the board as a top 25-30 range fantasy starter in drafts based on his stratospheric strikeout upside.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #55
Rodón had a procedure in the offseason to remove loose bodies in his elbow. He has been throwing live batting practices and will do so again this week. Boone wasn’t sure if Rodón would get into a spring training game, but he will pitch in the minor leagues at the start of the season and should be up with the Yankees before the first month is over. At this point, Rodón probably needs to be getting drafted closer to guys like Zack Wheeler (shoulder) and Brandon Woodruff (lat) who are both also likely going to be delayed to start the season.
