  • DET Shortstop #28
Personalize your Rotoworld feed by favoriting players
“That one looked scary,” Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters after Báez was carted off the field during Tuesday’s game against the Braves following an awkward feet-first slide into first base attempting to avoid a tag. The fact that there isn’t an immediate update from the club following the contest suggests that Báez is probably dealing with a serious injury. There should be some clarity on his status at some point soon. Any sort of extended absence would likely open the door for top prospect Max Clark to take over in center field.
  • CLE 2nd Baseman #87
Bazzana struck out, flew out to center field and drew a walk in three at-bats against Rays starter Nick Martinez during his highly-anticipated big-league debut at Progressive Field. He was denied a chance to deliver a potential game-tying or game-winning hit when he was intentionally walked by reliever Cole Sulser with two outs in the ninth inning. The 23-year-old’s combination of advanced hitting ability, plate discipline and power/speed combination should give him some immediate fantasy relevance, especially in deeper mixed leagues. He’s worthy of a speculative roster spot in all leagues, especially OBP formats.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #12
Mize is likely to undergo further evaluation and imaging to determine whether he’ll require a trip to the injured list. The 28-year-old righty left Tuesday’s start with a trainer in the third inning after allowing two runs over 2 1/3 frames. It would likely be Sawyer Gipson-Long taking his rotation spot, but that’s purely speculative at this point. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days.
  • TB 3rd Baseman #13
Caminero appears to have avoided serious injury after a scary-looking incident when he fouled a ball off home plate that ricocheted directly into his right jaw. He managed to finish the at-bat, despite being in some apparent discomfort, before leaving the contest with a trainer. He presumably underwent imaging that didn’t reveal any fractures in his jaw, which is a massive relief. The 22-year-old fantasy superstar is day-to-day heading into Wednesday’s series finale in Cleveland.
  • SD 3rd Baseman #13
Stammen added that Machado is dealing with a left calf cramp that led to his precautionary exit from the late stages of Monday’s contest against Chicago. The 33-year-old third baseman will get some extra time off to rest and recover out of an abundance of caution, but it sounds like he’s ready if needed to pinch-hit. It certainly sounds like a relatively minor concern at this juncture. Jake Cronenworth is at the hot corner in his absence with Fernando Tatis Jr. making his fifth appearance at second base this season.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #99
Atlanta hasn’t finalized their pitching plan for the remainder of the week, but Strider will be part of it, most likely on Sunday in place of journeyman Martín Pérez, after missing the opening five weeks of the season recovering from an oblique strain. The 27-year-old former fantasy ace shouldn’t have any workload restrictions after throwing 82 pitches during his final rehab start for Triple-A Gwinnett over the weekend. It’s a challenging spot having to contend with Coors Field’s high-octane offensive environment right out of the gate, but Strider is probably going to be worth the risk for managers in deeper fantasy leagues that have been stashing him this long.
  • NYM Left Fielder #22
Not good. Mendoza added that they’re hoping Soto, who is in Tuesday’s lineup at DH, will be ready to return to the outfield in the next couple days. He also noted that Soto underwent an MRI that didn’t reveal any structural damage, which is an encouraging sign. The 27-year-old generational has gone (3-for-15) with zero extra-base hits and six walks in five games since returning from the injured list last week. It doesn’t sound like a massive concern, but it’s a developing situation that fantasy managers should be closely monitoring.
  • NYY Designated Hitter #27
As expected, Stanton hits the injured list after suffering the “mild” strain during Friday’s game against the Astros. It’s feasible this could be a short stint on the list for the 36-year-old slugger, and it’s possible — although far from a guarantee — that he’s back in the New York lineup by the early portion of May.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #34
Senga has really struggled in 2026, and after allowing three runs and going just 2 2/3 innings against the Rockies on Sunday, he now has an ERA of 9.00 on the season. The spinal injury will keep him out at least two weeks, but a better idea of when Senga will be able to return to the New York rotation.
  • PHI Manager
Don Mattingly, who joined the team as bench coach this offseason, will take over as interim manager. Thomson becomes the second manager fired this month after the Red Sox fired Alex Cora over the weekend. In fact, many reports suggest that Thomson’s firing could be directly tied to that, since Dave Dombrowski, the Phillies’ president of baseball operations, has a close relationship with Cora from their time together in Boston. A potential manager swap was made easier with the Phillies’ getting out to a 9-19 start to the season, tied with the Mets for the worst record in baseball. Thomson ends his Phillies career with a record of 355-270 for a .568 winning percentage, which is second-best in franchise history. He took the Phillies to the World Series in 2022, but the team then lost in the NLCS in 2023, the Division Series in 2024, and the Division Series in 2025. Thomson will likely get another chance to manage if he wants one.
