It’ll be fascinating to see whether Detroit hangs on until the last moment or they’re blown away by a “Godfather offer” that forces them to take action prior to Monday when the baseball world puts their proverbial pencils down. According to multiple reports, the Dodgers and Brewers are the overwhelming favorites to land Skubal considering their combination of big-league talent and loaded farm systems. It would be stunning if Arraez, who will hit free agency in the offseason, wasn’t on the move prior to next week’s trade deadline. All nine Rotoworld staffers surveyed for our annual trade deadline preview column picked Arraez as the most likely player to be dealt. He’s showed some real improvement as a defender at second base in his Giants debut, while also hitting .328 with four homers and 10 steals in 459 plate appearances over 104 games. He was lifted from Friday’s game against the Pirates for precautionary reasons with leg cramps. It would be surprising if he didn’t end up somewhere in the AL East.

The 19-year-old prodigy has been on an absolute rocket ship towards Milwaukee since a sublime Dominican Summer League campaign back in 2024. He’s universally regarded as the top prospect in baseball and is thriving as one of the youngest hitters in Double-A, slashing .287/.359/.464 with 12 round-trippers and 29 stolen bases through 89 games. It’s impossible to dismiss the slim possibility given how meteoric his rise has been to this point that the Brewers decide to give him a taste of the majors and postseason action before the end of the year. It happened with Junior Caminero a couple years ago.

There’s on fire, then there’s whatever Kyle Stowers has been lately. He blasted a 417 foot homer here which was his second in as many days and fourth over his last six games. That brought his total up to nine in July as he’s spent most of the last six weeks blazing hot following a poor start to his season. To illustrate this, Stowers had a .659 OPS back on June 15th. After this game, he’s up to a .788 OPS and it feels like that number will keep climbing.
